Legal Aid of Cambodia

Doing incredible work to try to give people a fair trial.  I saw a supreme court case today and the man had been in prison for 13 years and was only today hearing the outcome of his appeal to the Supreme Court.  His lawyer was on his mobile phone during trial.

With 600 practicing lawyers in Cambodia, only 200 go to court and only 75 provide legal aid. Not many lawyers for a population of 14 million. They desperately need support...

Join Fite (with Dermalogica) - Lend a hand to help a woman start or grow a business

"You choose - we lend - she invests in her own potential."

"joinFITE is an active philanthropy platform, powered by Kiva.org and championed by Dermalogica, that connects you to women entrepreneurs who need a hand up. By providing women access to small loans, they are able to start or grow a business, bettering themselves, their families, and their communities. joinFITE is a fun and easy way for you to help another when you activate a donation from our partners.

joinFITE is championed by Dermalogica and its quarter‐century investment in the financial independence of women. Dermalogica is promoting corporate philanthropy by using the products as a vehicle to educate the public at large about the positive change when we
invest in women.

Dermalogica’s support is the latest expression of the brand’s legacy of empowering women, and is based upon the business model created by Jane Wurwand, Dermalogica founder and owner. Dermalogica has a 25‐year brand history of empowering female skin therapists to achieve financial independence as owners of their own business, with the hopes of empowering another 25,000 women to do the same, starting or growing a business through microfinance.

Kiva.org powers the joinFITE platform, and is a non‐profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create

opportunity around the world."

Daughters

"Daughters of Cambodia is a faith-based non-Government organization reaching out to victims of sex-trafficking and sex-exploitation in Cambodia. We work to eradicate enslavement in the sex industry by offering them opportunities to walk free and start a new life.  Daughters’ operates a center in the heart of an area of Phnom Penh brothels, where young women or young men wishing to leave sex work are offered employment in our seven small fair-tradebusinesses and a range of social and psychological services.

Daughters has developed a unique model in Cambodia, one in which sex workers come direct to the organization from the brothels by their own free choice. They come because they are already motivated to change their lives, and our programs empower them to set themselves free and teach them how to sustain their new lives for the long term.
Our goal is to empower young women whilst avoiding the NGO and aid-dependent approaches prevalent in this part of the world. We do not run a shelter, we are an employer. We place great priority on our fair-tradeworkplace, providing good working conditions, higher salaries than average, training, daycare, medical treatment and other free supplementary services."
