Books

This is what I'm reading...

Written by one of the most inspirational people you will ever meet, director of  DC Cam Youk Chhang.  They have spent five years documenting this woman's life in the hope that it will stimulate a national drive to improve mental health facilities across Cambodia.

A well written book which is easy to read. It tells the story of one family's journey during 1975 to 1979 from the evacuation of Phnom Penh through to the Vietnamese invasion and the end of the Khmer Rouge regime. I haven't been able to put it down.

The Story of Utara Norng, a teenager in Phnom Penh in post Khmer Rouge time trying to earn enough money to support herself, her family and her brother's gambling addiction. Short and easy to read.

Cambodia Now was written several years ago but offers insight into every aspect of Cambodian life and culture after the devastating effects of the Khmer Rouge.

First They Killed My Father - just about to start this one.
